People Watch: On the move in July

Mawer Investment Management Ltd. has named Christian Deckart co-manager of the Mawer Global Small Cap Fund. The firm also named Travis Goldfeldt co-manager of the Mawer Tax Effective Balanced Fund. Deckart joined Mawer in 2013 as an equity analyst for Mawer’s global research team. And Goldfeldt joined Mawer in 2007 as a business analyst.

BioScript Pharmacy has named Jane Farnham as its strategic health solutions leader.

Manulife Asset Management has hired Jason Fromer as managing director and head currency trader, a new position at the firm. Most recently, he was with State Street Global Markets where he was a vice-president of foreign exchange sales.

RBC has appointed Doug Guzman as group head, wealth management and insurance, effective Nov. 1, 2015. He’s currently managing director and head of global investment banking, capital markets. Guzman will succeed George Lewis who will remain at RBC as a senior portfolio manager in the global asset management division.

Dr. Bill Howatt has joined Morneau Shepell as chief research and development officer for workforce productivity. He has more than 25 years’ experience in academic research in human behaviour.

Trang Lam has joined Northern Trust Asset Management as senior client investment officer within the multi-manager investment outsourcing practice. Lam brings over 15 years of experience in a variety of investment roles, most recently as senior manager, pension investments at TD Bank Group.

State Street has named Lou Maiuri to head its global exchange business. He’s an executive vice-president and industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in technology and financial services.

Grace McAdam has joined Mercer’s Toronto office as a principal in its investment consulting business. She was previously at Aon Hewitt where she most recently worked as an investment consultant. Jean Moore has been named North America health and benefits specialty practice leader at Mercer. She was previously at Towers Watson, where she has held several senior positions over the past 17 years. And Simon O’Regan has been appointed president, North America. He was previously president of the Mercer EuroPac region. O’Regan is a 27-year Mercer veteran.

Sandy McIntyre has stepped back into the role of chief investment officer at Sentry Investments, a position he held from 2008 to 2012. He joined Sentry in 2000 and has 40 years’ experience in the financial services industry. McIntyre replaced Dennis Mitchell.

BlackRock has appointed Marcia Moffat (above) as head of its Canadian business. She will be joining BlackRock from her role as founder and principal at Compasar Solutions, a management consulting firm, in September. Moffat has more than 15 years of industry experience and spent 12 years with Royal Bank of Canada.

RBC Investor & Treasury Services has appointed Kevin O’Neill as managing director, asset managers – North America. He’s spent eight years with RBC, most recently as segment head for sovereign wealth funds and central bank sales.

Michael Peck has joined Invesco Canada as senior vice-president, institutional investments. He has 25 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Invesco, Peck was the head of the institutional business at AGF Investments.

OMERS Ventures has promoted Damien Steel to the role of managing director. He’s been on the OMERS Ventures team since its inception in 2011, previously serving as director.
