Teachers’ expands London office

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is increasing its presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with the expansion of its London office.

“The expansion reflects Ontario Teachers’ continued interest in, and commitment to, the EMEA region,” says a statement from the pension fund. “The new, larger office will bring together teams from multiple asset classes under one roof, including private capital, relationship investing, long-term equities and infrastructure.”

Teachers’ opened the London office in 2007, and began with two direct investments. It’s now a direct investor in some 30 companies in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Investments in the EMEA region at the end of last year totalled about $22 billion, with nearly five billion pounds in the U.K. alone.

In addition to its London and Toronto offices, Teachers’ also has an Asia-Pacific region office in Hong Kong.
