Tremblay, Guimond join Gowlings

Labour and employment lawyers Guy Tremblay and Lucie Guimond have left Heenan Blaikie and joined Gowlings as partners in the firm’s Montreal office.

“Guy and Lucie are tremendous additions to our Montreal office and to our national employment and labour law group,” says Scott Jolliffe, Gowlings chair and CEO. “Guy is recognized in Canada and internationally as a pillar in the field, while Lucie—an outstanding litigator in her own right—brings a level of experience, expertise and tenacity that few in this area can match.”

Tremblay is recognized as a leading employment and labour lawyer by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Best Lawyers in Canada, which recently named him Montreal’s Labour and Employment Lawyer of the Year for 2014. Prior to joining Gowlings, he was at Heenan Blaikie for about 37 years and was co-managing partner from 1997 to 2011.

Guimond has practised exclusively in employment and labour law for more than two decades. She has expertise in occupational health and safety, labour relations, executive compensation and privacy law.

Last week, Heenan Blaikie announced it would wind up.
