The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is appointing Kristen Walters as senior managing director and chief risk officer.
In the role, Walters will be responsible for the investment organization’s global risk management functions, including overseeing a strategy to better incorporate risk perspectives into all investment and operational processes, according to a press release.
Prior to joining the CPPIB, Walters was the chief risk officer for Natixis Investment Managers. Earlier in her career, she also held risk management positions at BlackRock Inc., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Pacific Investment Management Co.
“[Walters’] demonstrated ability to build and lead global risk teams, enhance risk and trading systems and work across financial markets makes her ideally positioned to act as our chief risk officer and to add significant value to our senior management team,” said John Graham, president and chief executive officer of the CPPIB, in the release.
