Ontario considers public pension plan: Reports

The Government of Ontario is considering a supplementary pension plan for the province’s residents, according to newspaper reports.

The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star both say that the announcement may be made in next month’s fall economic statement.

The reports also say the province would favour an enhanced Canada Pension Plan (CPP) but would go ahead with a supplemental Ontario Pension Plan if there weren’t any improvements made to the CPP.

Earlier this month, Prince Edward Island unveiled a proposal for CPP expansion.
