Manulife introduces program to manage transition to retirement

Manulife Financial has introduced an online planning program for employees who participate in its workplace retirement savings plans.

The program, Retirement Redefined, includes personalized planning tools and advice aimed at encouraging plan members  who are about to retire or are 15 years away from retirement to start thinking about the life they want when they leave the workplace. Manulife piloted the program with employees at seven organizations across Canada.

“Too many people are leaving the security of their workplace without knowing how they will spend their time, pay for health costs or how to generate income in retirement,” said Sue Reibel, executive vice-president of institutional markets at Manulife, in a news release.

“Retirement Redefined . . . provides an engaging experience along with tools and resources, such as a team of professional retirement counsellors and financial planners, to ensure that future retirees are aware of what insurance and income they will need to have a long and healthy retirement.”

Through the program, employees can build a personalized retirement vision through an online platform on which they can set and track their goals and access relevant content on their specific retirement savings plans.
