CPP Investments is pursuing investments in medical outpatient buildings through a new a joint venture with IRA Capital and an undisclosed global institutional investor.
The investment organization will own a 47.5 per cent stake in the joint venture and allocated US$143 million of equity capital in the partnership. The joint venture will have an expected acquisition capacity of roughly $850 million, according to a press release.
“The program will target modern outpatient care facilities in growing U.S. communities, where demand is supported by demographic trends and the shift of services from hospitals to outpatient settings,” said Sophie van Oosterom, managing director and head of real estate at CPP Investments, in the release.
CPP Investments is also investing up to $162 million in an initial commitment to SC Capital Partners Group for its Japan hospitality strategy.
The strategy is backed by a consortium that includes CPP Investments and other undisclosed global institutional investors. The investment includes an initial commitment of up to US$330 million with an option to increase that commitment to $719 million, according to a press release.
“Japan stands out as one of Asia’s most attractive hospitality markets, driven by robust growth in inbound tourism alongside sustained domestic demand,” said Gilles Chow, head of real estate, Asia-Pacific at CPP Investments, in the release.
In other news, the British Columbia Investment Management Corp. is participating in a $15.2 million seed raise for Dominion Dynamics, a defence technology engineering firm. The funding round was led by Georgian and included Bessemer Venture Partners. The defence firm has now raised $18.8 million since its launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Canada Growth Fund made a strategic investment of up to $89.6 million in Mangrove Water Technologies Inc. The transaction is part of an US$85 million structured financing package with BMW i Ventures and Breakthrough Energy Ventures. The funds will support a commercial facility in Delta, B.C., owned by the firm.
