The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board is appointing Anna Murray as its senior managing director and global head of sustainable investing.

In the new role, she’ll work with the pension plan’s total fund management investment division. She’ll also be responsible for the execution of the Ontario Teachers’ climate strategy and will oversee the continued integration and assessment of environmental, social and governance opportunities and risks in the investment process.

“Sustainable investing is a key part of Ontario Teachers’ strategy as it generates positive, real-world impacts while supporting long-term value creation for our members,” said Ziad Hindo, chief investment officer of the Ontario Teachers’, in a press release. “We look forward to Ms. Murray and her team helping us meet our impact-related commitments, as well as continue to evolve our approach and build on our leadership in sustainable investing.”

Before joining the Ontario Teachers’, Murray was the global head of ESG for Sun Life Capital Management (Canada) Inc. where she was responsible for integrating ESG risk management and value creation practices into investment decisions and management across the firm’s global investment platform. She’s also the co-chair of the United Nation’s principles for responsible investment’s real estate advisory committee.
