AIMA Canada names new executive committee members

The Alternative Investment Management Association Canada has announced its new executive committee of the board for the 2016-18 term.

Michael Burns, a partner in the investment management group at Boden Ladner Gervais LLP, will continue in the role of chair, which he was appointed to in September 2014.

The other new roles, which will cover two-year terms beginning Sept. 7, 2016, include:

  • Claude Perron, president and chief investment officer at Cristalline Management, has been named deputy chair;
  • Derek Hatoum, a partner in the audit and assurance group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, has been named treasurer; and
  • Darin Renton, a partner in the financial products and services group at Stikeman Elliott LLP, has been named legal counsel.

Other executive committee members who will also serve two-years terms beginning Sept. 7, 2016, are:

  • Stéphane Amara, director of Allianz Global Investors;
  • Steve Banquier, managing director of TD Securities Inc.;
  • Ranjan Bhaduri, chief research officer at Sigma Analysis & Management;
  • James Burron, chief operating officer of AIMA Canada;
  • Anish Chopra, managing director and head of innovative solutions at TD Asset Management Inc.;
  • Jesse Kaufman, partner and portfolio manager at Richardson GMP Ltd.;
  • Belle Kaura, vice-president, legal and chief compliance officer at Third Eye Capital Management;
  • Laura Reid, a senior manager at KPMG LLP; and
  • Claire Van Wyk, manager, sales support, advisor channel sales at RBC Global Asset Management.
