It hasn’t been an easy year for pension and investment professionals. With the extreme market fluctuations and their effects on pension plans, it’s even more important that those who administer plans and communicate them to members are not just proficient in their jobs but also dedicated to them.

Benefits Canada is proud to honour these outstanding companies and individuals, and to thank them for working tirelessly to improve and increase the retirement security of Canadian employees and their families. This year’s award categories are Plan Sponsor, Plan Member Communications, Volunteer and Top 40 Money Manager Lifetime Achievement.

In the Plan Sponsor category, Karen Welch of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts takes home the prize for the leadership she has demonstrated. Plan Member Communications awards go to Ruth Tomes of OMERS and to The Standard Life
Assurance Company of Canada for their innovative communication efforts. The Volunteer award goes to Scott Perkin for his work as president of the Association of Canadian Pension Management. And Jean-Guy Desjardins of Fiera Capital Inc. has been awarded the Top 40 Money Manager Lifetime Achievement award for a solid track record in his long-standing career.

Congratulations to all of the Benefits Canada award winners.
