Aurora Cannabis appoints new chief HR officer

Aurora Cannabis Inc. has promoted Debra Wilson to chief human resources officer, effective immediately.

Since joining the company in June 2017, Wilson was previously Aurora Cannabis’ vice-president and senior vice-president of HR. Before that, she was director of HR at Universal Rail Systems Ltd., vice-president of HR and organizational development at Alberta Pensions Services Corp., senior director of HR and administration at Afexa Life Sciences Inc., vice-president of HR at Maclab Enterprises Inc. and vice-president of HR at Bentall Kennedy Ltd. Partnership.

“Debra has built what I believe is the finest HR function in the industry and she has also become a key source of wise counsel on pivotal business decisions,” said Terry Booth, chief executive officer of Aurora, in a news release. “Her promotion reflects both her functional excellence and the leadership and organizational insights she contributes, as Aurora rapidly expands its global operations. 

“Since joining the company, she and her team have seamlessly on-boarded more than 800 people — a 350 per cent increase in employees in just over a year.
