Have your say: Would you give up money and perks for better work-life balance?

According to a study published by Citrix Canada, 45 per cent of employees would trade benefits or pay in order to work outside of the traditional office setting.

These results echo another Monster Canada survey that found that if money wasn’t a concern, 63 per cent of respondents would work part time. The studies suggest many employees prioritize work-life balance over other perks.

The Citrix study found that 96 per cent of respondents wanted jobs that could provide work-life balance, with remote working arrangements cited as appealing for the money saved on work travel and the ability to spend more time with family.

Do you agree with the idea of trading money for more balance? The topic is the subject of this week’s online poll. Would you trade your perks and pay for better balance between your work and personal life?

Last week’s poll, which asked whether respondents thought the federal government should extend parental leave to 18 months, resulted in a close split with 43 per cent suggesting parents could use more options to cope with work and pressure and the remaining 57 per cent feeling the plan under discussion would do little to relieve the challenges families face.
