OSC makes new exec appointment

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has appointed Maureen Jensen as the commission’s executive director and chief administrative officer.

Jensen, who is currently senior vice-president, surveillance and compliance, with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), assumes responsibilities of the new position effective June 13, 2011.

“Maureen Jensen has strong people management skills and extensive experience and expertise in capital markets regulation, the financial services industry and the Canadian mining sector,” said Howard Wetston, chair and CEO with the OSC. “Maureen’s leadership experience as an executive and her understanding of the OSC’s mandate and operations, the role of self-regulatory organizations and the capital markets in general will serve the OSC extremely well in our work to protect the public interest.”

Jensen has previously served Market Regulation Services Inc. as president and CEO and director from 2007 to 2008 and as vice-president, market regulation, from 2002 to 2007.

She also held director’s position at the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Group from 1998 to 2002, where she led the integration of CDNX (now TSX Venture Exchange) into the TSX corporate structure in 2002 and helped develop the first strategic plan for TSX Group before it went public.
