Ontario Teachers’ adds to investment team

Following on from its appointment of a new chief investment officer, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) has made a series of appointments to its investment team.

The appointments include:

  • Andrew Claerhout to the expanded role of senior vice-president, Infrastructure & Natural Resources;
  • Ziad Hindo to the newly created role of senior vice-president, Capital Markets;
  • Wayne Kozun to senior vice-president, Public Equities;
  • and Michael Wissell to the newly created role of senior vice-president, Portfolio Construction.

The appointees all report to Bjarne Graven Larsen, who was appointed as the pension fund’s chief investment officer in January.

Claerhout is responsible for overseeing infrastructure acquisitions and asset management globally, along with physical investments in natural resources, and oil and gas assets, farmland and timberlands. He joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2005.
Hindo is responsible for the newly created Capital Markets department, where he has oversight for centralized trade execution and the treasury function. He joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2000 and was most recently senior vice-president, Tactical Asset Allocation & Natural Resources.
Kozun oversees the fund’s Public Equities portfolios, including internally and externally managed portfolios, and Ontario Teachers’ relationship investing team. He joined Ontario Teachers’ in 1995 and was most recently senior vice-president, Fixed Income & Alternative Investments.
Wissell leads the newly created Portfolio Construction Group, which is responsible for the fund wide economic outlook, detailed asset mix and risk budget allocation with the asset classes. He joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2002 and was most recently senior vice-president, Public Equities.
