Up to 600 TTC employees are under investigation for their involvement in a benefits fraud scandal, according to an article in the Toronto Star.
According to the article, the false claims for health benefits totalled more than $5.1 million. The details are included in an annual report from auditor general Beverly Romeo-Beehler that was released on Friday.
The auditor told the newspaper that the total number of fraudulent claims is still to be determined.
Brad Ross, TTC spokesperson, added in a statement: “While 600 employees used the clinic in question, this does not mean that every employee engaged in improper behaviour.”
