Ivanhoé Cambridge appoints managing director of India

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s real estate arm, Ivanhoé Cambridge, has appointed Chanakya Chakravarti as managing director of India, growth markets, effective Jan. 8, 2018.

In the role, Chakravarti will be responsible for implementing investment and asset management strategies in India. With more than 27 years of experience, including 20 years in real estate advisory, investment and development in India and sub-Saharan Africa, Chakravarti was previously managing director of global alternatives, real estate Asia at JP Morgan Chase and Co. in Mumbai.

From 2007 to 2011, he worked for Actis Capital LLP, first as managing director and then as chief executive officer of BlueLife Ltd., an Actis subsidiary. Before that, he was joint managing director and country manager at Cushman & Wakefield in India.
