Ontario Teachers’ names new head of global strategic relationships

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has promoted Jonathan Hausman to managing director and head of global strategic relationships, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

In the new role, Hausman is responsible for developing and cultivating investment relationships around the world, according to a news release. His new team will integrate with Ontario Teachers’ efforts with its partner network in the Latin American region.

“Strong relationships built over the long term are the foundation of our investment philosophy at Ontario Teachers’,” said Bjarne Graven Larsen, the pension fund’s chief investment officer. “We work with our partners to identify mutually beneficial opportunities, introducing each other to new individuals, teams and assets. Jonathan and his new team will be perfectly situated in the organization, working across our asset classes and supporting our teams in all regions globally to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones.”

Hausman moves into the new role from the pension fund’s capital markets department, where his responsibilities included the global hedge fund portfolio. Before he joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2004, he was an executive director at Goldman Sachs, where he managed sovereign risk strategy.

“Jonathan has been instrumental in building our global network of partners,” said Graven Larsen. “He leads our investment missions to new markets, and has led the investment division’s emerging markets committee for several years. He brings a depth of knowledge and appreciation for the unique characteristics of each region in which we invest and how best to integrate our efforts there.”
