Carefor Health & Community Services has joined the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.

The Ottawa-based health-care and community support charity previously sponsored its own defined benefit pension plan, which has now merged with the HOOPP. More than 620 employers participate in the HOOPP, which typically adds 20 to 25 new employers every year.

“We are delighted to welcome Carefor and its more than 1,400 employees into HOOPP,” said Rachel Arbour, vice-president of plan and policy development at the HOOPP, in a press release. “This addition showcases HOOPP’s continued focus on providing access to retirement security across Ontario’s diverse health-care sector.

“While we have long been known as the pension plan for hospitals, it’s important for all health-care facilities in the province to know HOOPP is available to them and their employees.”
