Morneau Shepell expands U.S., global presence with latest EAP acquisition

Morneau Shepell Ltd. is boosting its presence in the United States and globally with the acquisition of Chestnut Global Partners, an employee assistance program and wellness services provider based in Illinois.

As part of the acquisition, Morneau Shepell acquires ownership stakes in five joint venture companies that provide employee assistance services to companies in Brazil, China, Eastern Europe, India and Russia. 

“Chestnut Global Partners offers particular expertise in addiction treatment, mental-health services and credit counselling, and is recognized in the EAP industry as a leader in research,” said Rita Fridella, executive vice-president and general manager of employee support solutions at Morneau Shepell, in the release. 

“The company has a strong presence in the United States and around the world, and Morneau Shepell’s clients will now benefit from our expanded capabilities. As a result, our combined global reach will be unparalleled in the industry.”

The company has acquired a number of other employee assistance program and health services providers over the past year, including three based in Montreal — Pro Health Group Inc., Solareh and Longpré.
