Canadians like their jobs

They say if you love your job, you never have to work a day in your life. To find out if that’s true, just ask any of the number of Canadians who truly enjoy their occupations.

A survey from CareerBuilder.ca finds 41% of Canadian workers say they like their jobs and 34% go so far as to say they love them. Only one in five workers feel mediocre about their jobs, and a mere 4% actively dislike or hate their jobs.

The ability to balance work and personal time may play into Canadians’ ability to enjoy their jobs. The majority of Canadian workers (63%) say they are either satisfied or very satisfied with their work-life balance. Just 16% report dissatisfaction with their work-life balance.

Happy as they may be in their jobs, however, workers aren’t immune to feelings of burnout. Nearly seven in 10 workers (68%) say they sometimes feel burned out in their jobs, and one in 10 say they always do.

“Burnout is natural and happen to even the most dedicated workers at the best of employers,” says Mark Bania, managing director of CareerBuilder Canada. “For most workers, however, it’s a passing phase. But when employees start to feel as if they are burned out all the time, that can start to affect their work and in some cases, the business overall.”

There were 500 employees that participated in the survey.
