The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association has elected Michael Doughty, president and chief executive officer of Manulife Canada, as its chair.

Doughty will take over the role from Jean-François Chalifoux, the president and chief executive officer of Beneva Inc., who was appointed chair in December 2020 and who’ll remain on the board as a past chair, noted the CLHIA in an email to Benefits Canada. Chalifoux will also serve as chair of the CLHIA’s resources standing committee and its Quebec standing committee, said the association.

Doughty has been a member of the CLHIA board for nearly four years. He’s also a past-chair of LL Global, as well as a board member of St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation and Communitech.
