The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is appointing Charley Butler as its chief pension officer, effective Jan. 1, 2023.

In the role, Butler will oversee the administration of pensions and report to Jo Taylor, president and chief executive officer of the Ontario Teachers’. She’ll succeed Tracy Abel, the chief operations officer who has been managing the duties of the chief pension officer in addition to her regular duties.

In a press release, Taylor welcomed Butler to the executive team and praised her leadership skills. “Charley has played a pivotal role in delivering service excellence. . . through a focus on self-funded growth, digital transformation and innovation.”

Butler joined the Ontario Teachers’ in 2015 as the senior managing director of member services. Earlier in her career, she worked as the vice-president of claims and customer service at Aviva Canada Inc.
