Founded in 2020, the UPP is a defined benefit pension plan jointly sponsored by member universities and faculties from several Ontario universities. Assets from the member institutions pre-existing DB plans have been rolled into the UPP plan.

With the addition of assets from Trent’s pension plan, the UPP is now responsible for managing $11 billion. It has 35,000 members.
