Following its win in the Future of Work Strategy category at the 2024 Workplace Benefits Awards, TMX Group Ltd. is advancing its hybrid-first approach with a continued focus on flexibility, inclusion and employee well-being.

The organization was recognized for its data-driven approach, shaped by a year-long pilot that analyzed employee feedback, turnover, performance metrics and occupancy trends. The findings confirmed the model’s effectiveness, leading to a formalized hybrid policy of two to three in-person days per week, based on role and client needs.

“This award affirms that our hybrid strategy is driving real impact,” says Paula Ioannou, head of total rewards at TMX Group. “It reflects the effort we’ve made to balance flexibility, performance and employee well-being in a way that aligns with our long-term business goals. We’re proud of this recognition as it reinforces our commitment to a culture built on trust, flexibility, inclusivity and wellness.”

To support the transition, TMX introduced work-from-anywhere options for up to 10 days per year and increased personal days from two to four. The organization also launched career transparency tools, reviewed its compensation cycle to reflect work styles and test bias in pay and performance outcomes and is piloting artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity and collaboration.

Beyond policy, TMX continues to foster employee connection and culture through a range of programs. The company hosts hybrid and in-person events across its regions, supports diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and celebrates employee contributions through regular recognition activities. Employees also take part in volunteer and charitable initiatives that help strengthen community ties.

The organization’s refreshed wellness program takes a holistic approach, allowing employees to personalize their experiences. Offerings include wellness webinars, animal therapy days and employer-funded sports teams for league play or casual games in rented spaces.

“We’re building a model that adapts with our people,” said Ioannou. “It’s not about a fixed formula — it’s about creating the conditions for employees to feel engaged, connected and able to perform at their best.”
