Caisse, CPPIB, Ontario Teachers’ invest in insurance company

The British Columbia Investment Management Corp. is making several appointments on its executive and private equity investment teams.

The investment organization is appointing Rechelle Effendy as acting senior vice-president, finance and chief financial officer, effective immediately. On its private equity team, the BCI is appointing Blake Fizzard as senior managing director of global operations, Julian Remedios as senior managing director of global investments and Umar Malik as senior managing director and chief of finance.

Effendy is replacing Malik in a role where she will oversee the BCI’s investment and corporate accounting, investment performance, finance operations, finance client engagement, tax, financial planning, procurement, and financial reporting and valuations teams.

“We have every confidence that BCI’s finance team will continue to deliver the same level of world-class service under Rechelle’s leadership and are delighted to recognize her valuable contributions,” said Shauna Lukaitis, chief operating officer at the BCI, in a press release.
