Medavie Blue Cross and Medical Confidence, recently acquired by CloudMD, are providing select plan members on disability with access to a personalized health-care navigation service that aims to reduce wait times to see a specialist.
According to a press release, the MedExcellence program will align with the Canada Health Act and provincial health-care systems to get Canadians on disability, who are awaiting an appointment, earlier access to a specialist for their condition. “The ever-increasing wait times have become the norm, made worse by COVID-19’s impact on our health-care system,” said Angela Johnson, Medical Confidence’s president, in the release. “Through our platform . . . we will provide Medavie plan members a customized . . . approach to obtaining the right treatment at the right time.”
The service will leverage Medical Confidence’s national network of over 27,000 specialists, and Medavie Blue Cross disability case managers will work with plan members on disability to access this service in appropriate circumstances based on referral criteria.
